Origins & Smells

Recipe Ceci:
1/4 Englishman
1/4 Frenchi
3/8 Newfoundlander
1/8 Micmac

Smoked for nine months like a well cured flank of Salmon.



He comes out like a flower and withers;

Flowers smell because they're dying.

It just seems like the least important.
I want to hear the conversation. I want to see what I'm doing. I want to feel that hand in mine. I want to taste my over-sugared coffee. But smelling? I could, I suppose, do without.

God, however, is rather taken with smelling.

The LORD saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.
(Genesis 6:5-6, ESV)

So He sent The Flood.

But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided. Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And when the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, the LORD said in his heart, "I will never again curse the ground because of man,

See there? God likes smelling things.

Today we don't sacrifice animals, but Romans 12:1, ESV says:
by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Does worship smell good? Could be pheromones.

  2. I was re-reading my blogs for fun. Oddly enough it's not that much fun. Then I re-read you comment and see that today is Decemeber 11, 2010. Almost a full year later. Isn't that neat? Ummmm.... simple minds. Just in case you don't know - it's delightful!
